Volunteer State Community College Hosting Distracted Driving Simulator Event

March 12, 2014

The Nashville Car Accident Lawyers with Ponce Law explain distracted driving is a major problem across Tennessee. In fact, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the National Safety Council ranked the state among the worst in the nation when it came to preventing distracted driving accidents.

Data indicates 10.6 percent of all fatal crashes in the state were the result of cellphone use. That number is ten times greater than the national average.

In order to help address the problem, simulators are being used to help show the public just how dangerous distracted driving can be. According to an article from News Channel 5, the next such event will take place from 1:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26, Wemyss Auditorium located on the campus of Volunteer State Community College in Gallatin, Tennessee.

The program will allow participants to attempt to drive the simulator while attempting to talk and text on a cellphone. This will allow the public to experience just how easily an accident can happen in a safe environment.

Michael D. Ponce & Associates’ team of Nashville Personal Injury Lawyers encourages citizens in the area to attend the upcoming event. The firm also urges parents to discuss the risks of distracted driving with their teens.
