Nashville Motorcycle Safety Tips for 2016

It’s a great time to be in Nashville. The temperatures are rising, the trees are blooming, and soon it’ll be time to get that motorcycle out for a long ride—if you haven’t already. Whether you’re touring the scenic Natchez Trace or simply heading out on the highway for an afternoon ride, here are a few safety tips that can ensure your ride is nothing but fun.

  • Wear a helmet—Tennessee law requires that every rider and passenger wear a safety helmet and for good reason. In the event of an accident, you have a much greater chance of survival wearing a helmet than not.
  • Be aware—The greatest danger to motorcyclists is other drivers. Be hyper-aware of what is going on around you. Don’t assume that other drivers see you or understand your intentions. Often it’s up to your diligence to avoid an accident.
  • Don’t speed—It’s dangerous to go above the speed limit in a car, but on a bike, it’s downright crazy. Going above the speed limit does nothing but put you, your passengers, and other drivers on the road in danger.
  • Watch the weather—Before setting out on a short or long ride, check the weather. Clear skies at the start of a ride doesn’t mean there’s no storm on the horizon. Don’t get caught in inclement weather. Check the weather before you hit the road.

Even the safest riders can’t always avoid an accident. If you’ve been injured, call our Nashville motorcycle accident attorneys today for a free consultation. We’ll protect your rights and work to get you maximum compensation for your injuries.
