Nashville Motorcycle Accident Lawyers Discuss Importance of Driver Awareness

September 23, 2013

The Nashville Motorcycle Accident Lawyers with Ponce Law explain that research shows drivers who fail to recognize or yield right-of-way often cause motorcycle crashes. One of the most common reasons given for this failure is that motorists do not see motorcyclists.

This seems to be the case in a crash that recently occurred in Clarksville that left a motorcyclist seriously injured. According to an article from The Leaf Chronicle, occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 2, at the intersection of Pea Ridge Road and Tracy Lane.

Reports state that the victim was traveling along Pea Ridge Road. As he approached the intersection with Tracy Lane, an SUV traveling in the opposite direction attempted to make a left turn in front of the bike, causing the two vehicles to collide.

Such crashes leave many motorists and motorcyclists alike wondering what they can do to help prevent such crashes. Michael D. Ponce & Associates’ team of Nashville Personal Injury Lawyers says drivers should always look twice in both directions before turning into traffic. Eliminating distractions while driving will also reduce the chances of an accident.

Motorcyclists should work toward making themselves more visible to others on the road by always utilizing a headlight and wearing light-colored or reflective clothing when traveling after dusk or before dawn.
