Middle Tennessee Is Kicking Off the “Click It Or Ticket” Campaign

Seat belts are proven as one of the most effective ways to prevent injuries or deaths in motor vehicle collisions. But many motorists still choose to ride in vehicles without buckling up. In fact, data indicates more than 70 percent of the 360 people killed in Tennessee car accidents last year were not properly restrained at the time of the crash. So far this year, 128 unrestrained motorists have lost their lives in crashes.

Numbers like these leave many people wondering what is being done to increase seat belt use in the state. One answer is the “Click It Or Ticket” campaign. The program has been put into action each year for decades with growing success. Experts attribute the program’s achievements to the approach of using both enforcement and education to drive home the message of the importance of wearing a seat belt.

This year’s event kicked off yesterday in Hendersonville and Sumner County, and it will continue through June 1st.

At Ponce Law, our team of Nashville personal injury lawyers understands the importance of buckling up. That’s why we encourage you to do so each and every time you get in the car. It’s also important to remind others in the vehicle to buckle up as well.
